The Marangu route is the most popular way to the peak. Its is also the easiest route and so no technical skill is required for the climb. During the trek you will be using the mountain huts which are situated along the route, the huts have all the basic necessities needed during the stay. Note that the extra night can be added at Horombo Hut for acclimatization if needed at extra cost.
You shall be met upon arrival by our airporrt represantative or pick up from Arusha for transfer to Moshi to your base hotel for overnight
Dinner and overnight at your Base hotel (Dinner and breakfast)
Breakfast at the base hotel. You shall be met at the hotekl by your climb guide, after briefing you shall be driven to the Park Headquarters at Marangu gate to be registered. Therafter you ascend to Maranda through the cleared trail, enjoy viewing the scenery and few wildlife within. Or alternatively ascend along the parallel forest trail and descend on the main trail. The trek is via a thick rainforest zone, where there is a high chance of rain in the afternoon. Vegetation here is Montane Forest.
Overnight at the Mandara Hut (2,700m) (Lunch, Dinner and breakfast)
This is wooden A-frame huts but comfortable, its capacity being 60. The main cabin has a downstairs dining hall and upstairs is the dormitory with bunk beds and mattresses; each smaller hut accommodates 8 people. Water is from springs above and flush toilets are behind the main cabin
From Maranda, the ascent is via short stretch of forest, wooden stream into the grassland which is approximately a 6 hours walk. Enjoy excellent views of the mountain peaks, the rim of Maundi Crater offers a superb view of the mountain and its environment. We cross the moorland into the Horombo Hut which is situated in a rocky valley with great scenery and flora. Bathrooms are available with running water. Vegetation is Moorland.
Overnight at the Horombo Hut (2,750m) (Lunch, Dinner and breakfast)
Horombo hut has total capacity is 120. Water is piped from the stream behind the huts. There is a platform toilet near the main hut; about 80 m down the slope and other flush toilets within the complex of small huts.
Depart from Horombo hut and we ascends onto the saddle of Kilimanjaro. The saddle (named so due to its shape) is an alpine desert that resembles a lunar landscape, its between the peaks of Kibo and Mawenzi on Kilimanjaro. From the saddle. Its about 2 hours walk to Horombo, an hour to Mawenzi and 3 hours to Kibo hut. The route via Horombo is closer to Kibo and much easier to trek, its about one kilimetre to the hut. The vegetation is less as we approach the rocky area until we reach the saddle. At this point you may notice signs of altitude sickness. The trek leads us upto the Kibo Hut (4,703m) for overnight. The hut is a comfortable stone construction (no running water at Kibo Hut). The are is semidesert and gets an annual rainfall of under 250mm; the ground freezes at night, however, by day time, the temperatures goes above 30 degrees Celsius. Vegetation is Alpine desert with few flora mostly consist of lichens and grasses
Overnight at the Kibo Hut (4700m) (Lunch, Dinner and breakfast)
The hut accommodates 60 people maximum, it is at 4700m and is stone built blockhouse with a small dining room and a number of dormitory rooms leading off a main corridor has bunk beds and mattresses
Hiking time: 8hrs ascent, 6hrs descend to Horombo Hut, Distance: 6km’s ascent and 15km descent
Today the trek takes about 14 hours and so we must be well prepared fo it, we shall wake up by midnight, take some snacks and start the climb to the summit of Kilimanjaro. The trek consists of a rocky way to the Hans Meyer Cave (5150m) and then to the steepy trail to Gillman's Point. This area requires alot of energy and so one needs much effort bot physical and mental. Its advisable to wake up that earlier as it improves our chances of reaching the summit in time for sunrise, at that time it is easier to climb the scree slope to Gillman's Point (5,861m) on the crater rim when it is still frozen. The hike is about 6 hours. Then from Gilman's Point, we do a further two hours round trip along the crater's edge to Uhuru Peak which is the highest peak on the mountain and also in Africa, note from Gilman's you shall encounter snow all the way up to Uhuru peak. After reaching the summit, we later descends which is easier hence faster to Horombo Hut which takes us about 6 hours. Here we spend an overnight at the huts as we celebrate our last night on the mountain.

We descent past the Mandara encampment to the base, takes about 6 hours. You shall sign your name once we reach Marangu gate and theafter be given summit certificates for those who reached Gillman's Point (5685m) and Uhuru Peak..Vegetation is forest. We be driven back to the base hotel to relax after the wonderful, enjoyable and memorable trek.
After breakfast, transfer back to Arusha town.
