Detailed Itinerary


Day 1: Nairobi - Samburu National Reserve

0700 hrs – You will be met by your driver guide at the airport or hotel, tour briefing. Thereafter depart for Samburu National Reserve located in the Northern Kenya. Arrival in time for lunch and check in at your lodge.

1600hrs - Leave for a late afternoon game drive in the reserve until sunset.

Samburu National Reserve has a large concentration of animals as well as beautiful bird life. The Reserve is considered unique due to its semi arid landscape, the unique culture of The Samburu tribe and also the rare species of animals found within it which includes: Gerenuk, Reticulated Giraffes, Grevy's zebra, Beisa Oryx and Somali Ostrich. During your visit you will also have a chance to spot the big cats - lions, cheetahs and leopard. Other games within the Reserve are: elephants, buffalos, warthogs, hippos, impalas, waterbuck and many others. The birdlife includes kingfisher, bee-eaters, tawny eagle, guineafowl, yellow throated spurfowl, lilac-breasted roller,  red-billed horn bill, secretary bird, Verreaux's eagle, superb starling, yellow-billed hornbill and vultures. Its neighbourhood to Shaba National Reserve and Buffalo Springs.

Day 2: Samburu National Reserve

Start your day with an early morning game drive starting at 0630 hrs. Return to the lodge for breakfast and the rest of the morning relax at the lodge. Lunch will be served at your lodge.

At 1600 hrs, you go for another game-drive till sunset

Day 3: Samburu - Ol Pejeta Conservancy/ Sweetwaters Game Reserve

Breakfast at Samburu Sopa lodge.
This morning you shall depart for Sweetwaters Tented Camp, lunch on arrival at the Camp. The camp is situated in a privately owned game reserve, Olpejeta Conservancy, overlooking the peaks of Mountain Kenya. Each of these luxury tents has a private verandah overlooking the waterhole at the camp.

The conservancy has a great number of wildlife including elephant, rhino, lion, leopard, bufffalos, (all Big five members) among other game. The place also have sanctuary that shelters many of the rare and endangered species including black rhino, Grevy's zebra, the Jackson's hartebeest and Chimpanzees.

The Chimpanzee sanctuary is the only one in Kenya and kindly note, this is a sanctuary for the orphaned and abused chimpanzees, where they are rehabilitated and taught to live for themselves as in their own habitat.

Day 4: Sweetwaters - Lake Nakuru National Park

Breakfast at the camp, check out and leave by 0800hrs for Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrival for lunch at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge or similar lodge.  

1600hrs: Enjoy late afternoon game drive in the Park.

The park is situated approximately 150km of Nairobi. The Park is named after the Lake which is also an attraction apart from its game and was initially established as a bird Sanctuary and later gazetted to National Park. The Park is also a Rhino Sanctuary. Its famous for its thousands population of flamingo's (Greater and lesser) and the highest diversity of birds species .Black and White Rhinos, Gazelles, Impalas, endangered Rothschild Giraffe, Warthogs, Lions, Deffassa water buck, Buffalo and baboons are all residents here. The Park has no Elephants.

Dinner and overnight at Sarova Lion Hill Lodge (Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast).

 

Day 5: Lake Nakuru - Masai Mara National Reserve

0730 hrs- Check out from your lodge and proceed to Masai Mara via the Great Rift Valley with abrief stopover at the Rift Valley viewing point. Proceed via Narok to arrive in Masai Mara in time for lunch at your Lodge.

1600 hrs- enjoy game drive in the Park till sunset.

Masai Mara offers wildlife in variety and abundance throughout the year. You can easily spot animals suach as; lions, rhinos, hippos, crocodiles, giraffe, wildebeests, zebras, buffalos, warthogs, hyenas, jackals, wild dogs, leopards, elephants, gazelles, impalas and many other antelopes. Apart from animals the Park also has wide population of birdlife.

The most impressive feature of this Park is the annual migration of thousnds of wildebeests and zebras from the plains of the Serengeti  crossing the borders and rivers to reach the Mara (occurs between June to October) as they are tracked by the predators including the lions, vultures, hyenas e.t.c. The exciting part of the event is witnessing the crossing of the Mara river as the animals are attacked by the crocodiles.

Day 6: Masai Mara National Reserve

0500 hrs- Take the opportunity to fly over the Mara in a Hot air Balloon which can be arranged at an extra cost. This is an optional activity. The balloon package includes bush breakfast accompanied with champagne. Return to your lodge by 0900hrs

OR

0630Hrs – Enjoy morning game drive to return to your lodge for breakfast.
Lunch at the lodge and early afternoon relax at the lodge.

1600 hrs – Game drive till sunset
Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge (Lunch, Dinner, Breakfast).

 

Day 7: Masai Mara - Nairobi

Breakfast at the lodge, check out and drive back to Nairobi arriving by afternoon.
Drop off at your hotel or Jomo Kenytta Airport (JKIA) airport for your flight back home.
End of the tour
